Initiated in 2008 – ‘the year of IT and English’, our Language Lab project set up two fully equipped audio visual labs which facilitate training for language teachers. Located in Kandy and Maharagama, they cater to teachers from around the country. The equipment includes language recorders, sound mixers, computers, language training software and more. The lab focuses mainly on English and Tamil languages, and also offers English and Sinhala skills to teachers in the North; and Tamil language skills for teachers in the South – playing a pivotal role in the national reconciliation efforts. Several more are planned for the near future.
