SchoolNet is a nationwide infrastructure that brings all organisations related to the School Education System online. A valuable platform for Next Generation Learning it is a secondary education modernization project funded by the Ministry of Education and Asian Development Bank. Managed by us the SchoolNet Network Operating Centre (NOC) at Moratuwa University is the heart of the SchoolNet IPVPN network. It operates as a separate intranet, with all traffic from the SchoolNet and the rest of the world being monitored, filtered and controlled by the NOC. Initially 1500 schools and Education centres with 15,000 PCs will be connected with 350,000 users utilizing this network with about 300,000 A/L students using SchoolNet for their E mails through web mail and the other 50,000 being school staff and education officers using the net for internet and E mails via web and as POP mail users.
